Never underestimate the power of a ritual repeated, a custom shared, or a festivity celebrated. The spellbinding magic that is Mardi Gras is the culmination of generations who reveled in their heritage and who, through careful planning, organization, and management, have preserved a spectacle unlike any other. The Krewe of Dionysos would like to recognize our Captain Dionysos X-Dennis Bryant, He has shown us that today the true monarchy lies within the generous heart that he has. The spirit he has displayed is uplifting. His dedication to this time honored tradition makes him our crown jewel in this our world of Mardi Gras. All Hail-Captain Dionysos X-Dennis Bryant.

The Krewe of Dionysos is a parading krewe and each and every one of us enjoy giving back to the community.This year had been such great fun. Our visits to the local nursing homes is always such a thrill. The faces of the elderly  light up when we walk in wearing our trash jackets and playing our mardi gras music. They know and with out a doubt remember happier times in their lives when we arrive. Mardi Gras brings so much joy to these wonderful senior citizens in our area. We make sure thay recieve lots of beads  and parade them all over their facility. We are proud to give back to our community.

THIS YEAR MARKS A DECADE FOR THE KREWE OF DIONYSOS.  WITH OUR NINTH BAL JUST PAST, FEATURING THE ROYAL COURT FOR 2008, ALONG WITH THE JUNIOR COURT, ROYAL GUARDS, CAPTAINS SHADOWS AND THE PAGES TO THE KING AND QUEEN THAT WERE PRESENTED, WE NOW JOURNEY TO OUR PARADE.

THE KREWE WILL HOST IT’S 10TH ANNUAL PARADE IN THE CITY OF LIGHTS THIS MARDI GRAS SEASON.  ON FEBRUARY 2ND AT 5:30 P.M. THE PARADE WILL ROLL. WE WILL BEGAN AT THE RIVER SOUTH COMMONS SHOPPING CENTER ON SOUTH DRIVE. THE LIGHTED SUPER FLOATS WILL MAKE THEIR WAY UP SOUTH DRIVE TO KEYSER AVENUE WHERE IT WILL TURN LEFT AND CROSS THE KEYSER STREET BRIDGE.  IT WILL TURN ONTO JEFFERSON AND MAKE IT’S WAY DOWN FRONT STREET TO TEXAS AND LEFT ONTO SECOND STREET.  AS IN YEARS PAST THE PARADE WILL END AT CHURCH AND SECOND STREET.

THE KREWE OF DIONYSOS WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME EVERYONE TO ATTEND THE ANNUAL EVENT.  PLEASE ENJOY THE BEAUTY OF MARDI GRAS WITH THE FLOATS, COSTUMED KREWE MEMBERS AND ROYALTY , BEAD THROWING, MUSIC AND MORE.

THIS YEARS GRAND MARSHALLS WILL BE OUR OWN  KING AND QUEEN DIONYSOS I- ANDY JACKSON AND KIM ISBELL RIDING IN A HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGE TO MAKE OUR TENTH ANNIVERSARY COMPLETE.

This years theme “A Decade of Dionysos” marked a diamond year for our Krewe. Many faces have changed over the course of the ten years but  not our spirit for the season of Mardi Gras. Our Grand Bal was held in the Natchitoches Events Center on January the 19th with an attendance of 750+. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of our 2008 Royal Court. This event was brought to life by our own Co-Captain of Bal-Cindy Davis and her Bal Chair-Julie Gardiner. Our hats are off to these ladies and their committee members for all the hard work they did to make this an anniversary to remember.

Entertainment was provided by the Northwestern State University Drum Corp with a neon drum stick musical performance that was outstanding. What an amazing group and we , the Krewe, were so honored to have them perform. The evening dance music was provided by L C Smoove from Monroe, La.

Decorations were interesting for this event. Upside down trees flanked our stage with beautiful silver ornaments. All were symbolic of jewels, diamonds and gem stones of every size  hung with flare to adorn the trees. A decorated wall for each year of our existance was recreated to honor that  group of royalty and our speciality anniversary beads were given out.

Thanks to all of the visiting Royalty from the Krewe’s in the ArkLaTex for their participation in our gala. Lasting friendships have been formed due to such an out pour of support between krewe members.

To make this year even more special, Founding Members were presented as were all past Captains, Kings and Queens. Each were presented during the tableau for a walk and a bow to welcome the new King and Queen. An  additional treat was a photo show of the past ten years up on the big screen for all to enjoy. Fun was had by all. The Kings toast was beautiful and the tableau ended with a second line dance by all current and past royalty .

THE 2008 MARDI GRAS SEASON WAS KICKED OF IN THE CITY OF LIGHT WITH OUR ANNUAL 12TH NIGHT CELEBRATION. THE NEW YEAR WAS BROUGHT IN BY ROYALTY GALORE.

THE EVENT WAS HELD AT THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HALL IN NATCHITOCHES ON DECEMBER 31, 2007.  THE EVENT WAS HOSTED BY THE PATRIOT FLOAT GROUP, LIEUTENANTS, DENNIS AND PAM WALKER. THE ENTERTAINMENT WAS GREAT AND THE FOOD, AS ALWAYS, WAS DELICIOUS. ALL HAIL TO THE PATRIOTS FOR A WONDERFUL PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE EVENING WAS THE INTRODUCTION OF OUR 2008 ROYAL COURT. OUR KING DIONYSOS X, RAMON TRICHE,  MADE A BEAUTIFUL SPEECH AND TOASTED HIS QUEEN AND THE COURT.

OUR CAPTAIN, DENNIS BRYANT, JUST RECOVERING FROM SHOULDER SURGERY, WAS A LITTLE UNDER THE WEATHER BUT WAS PRESENT FOR THE EVENT. ALTHOUGH HE HAD TO LEAVE AND NOT BRING IN THE NEW YEAR WITH HIS FLOCK, WE ALL WISH HIM WELL.

‘Twas a few weeks before 12th Night along the Cane River, all the creatures were out enjoying fireworks and lights.  King Dionysos X,Ramon Triche,had other things on his mind, so he had his king’s supper on this day and time. The Dukes were all present with their Duchess’s in tow, to bow to the King and Queen you know. The Captain,Dennis Bryant, was in his glory this day,  even with his bad shoulder nothing got in his way. With his  lovely wife at his side he gave of himself to the Krewe. The feast was held at the home of Phil and Kym Habig, corporate sponser you know, on the beautiful Cane River, where else do we go. Snappy casual was the dress and the food was devine not to mention the  wine. The gifts were so beautiful and the fellowship so kind. The King toasted his Dukes just in the nick of time.  Thanks to all in attendance for their friendship and time. Queen Dionysos X, Claudia Triche, busy as a bee, making sure the event was as fine as could be. The Duchess’s were such ladies on this hot and sultry night, with smiles on there faces all of the time. Lovely bracelets were exchanged to dangle on their hands. The  wonderful music made visions of sugar plums dance in our heads.

With a twinkle in his eye and a final toast to the guest, the King said All Hail and All Hail good night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
